The First Night of Dame
Agatha's Greatest Case by Kintbury Players
was a very entertaining evening which raised
£800. Thanks to everyone, particularly the
cast and directors of the Kintbury Players
for supporting us once again.

30 groups of people took part in The Flower

May 2008 - We would

April
2008 - 7-in-a-Barge raised £9,192.33, of
which over £8,000 was achieved through the
generosity of Horsey Lightly, Solicitors of
Newbury, and their Clients following a
Champagne Reception. The 7-in-Bar group
cruised from Newbury to Great Bedwyn on the
Trust's purpose-built barge, Diana,
serenading passers-by en route and giving
concerts in the Kennet Centre, Dundas Arms
(Kintbury), Bear Hotel (Hungerford), Pelican
Arms (Froxfield), finally giving an evening
of entertainment supported by Simon Knights
on guitar, Philip James, magician, and the
Millennium Choir.

April 2008 - A Bring
& Buy Sale at the Cross Keys, Great Bedwyn,
was a very successful event.

Spring
Sudoku – This was distributed in Great
Bedwyn and is a picture Sudoku, so first you
need to work out what symbol represents what
number – The Winner was John Walley from
Little Bedwyn, but it’s also available on
our website now and will put on all the
boats this season. There will also be a
Summer and Autumn Sudoku, so keep checking
our website !

Aladdin Panto – was held in The Village
Hall in Great Bedwyn at the end of January
and beginning of February 2008.
Bruce Mason, the Landlord of
The Cross Keys played the part of Widow
Twanky, his rendition of ‘Diamonds are a
girls best friend’, had the audience in
hysterics!

Duck Race – This new, and
hopefully annual event, organised by Valerie
Dalgleish, Assistant Trust Administrator,
was held in Great Bedwyn on New Year’s Day
2008, Simon Quinton Smith won twice with his
‘Duck Vader’ on the River Dunn.
There
were 10 races and each winner received a
Certificate and there was a trophy for ‘The
Best Dressed Duck’ won by Imogen. Afterwards
we went to The Cross Keys for indoor Duck
racing, where Bruce, the landlord, was a
great race organiser!

Canal
Crossword - this was designed
exclusively for The Bruce Trust by Valerie
Dalgleish and was distributed in Great
Bedwyn and to our Volunteers (October to
December 2007), this was won by Olwyn Brian,
of Newbury. She and her husband had a
complimentary meal for two at The Cross
Keys, Great Bedwyn. This crossword is now
available on our website and will be placed
on all our boats throughout the Season of
2008

First Communications Secretary to The Queen
in 1998, he looks back at his 2 year spell
at Buckingham Palace and reflects on some of
the issues he faced in his new role
(December 2007). Organised by Bedwyn ‘Swings
& Slides’ group
